Article Review: 6 Big Reasons to Use LinkedIn More Like Twitter

Prior to reading Inc.’s article “6 Big Reasons to Use LinkedIn More Like Twitter,” I was well aware of the importance in building connections through LinkedIn. However, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that LinkedIn has become the world’s largest professional network, with over 313 million members in over 200 countries.

I’ll admit that I am fairly new to the LinkedIn scene. My account has been set up for some time but I have just recently been more active on the social site. The title of the article struck my interest because I would of never previously related Twitter and LinkedIn’s social strategies. The author of the article, Larry Kim, wrote the article after taking a new approach in his LinkedIn strategy, using it more like Twitter.

Some changes in his strategy included accepting numerous old pending connection requests and creating a list of desired connections and requesting them. In no time, the technology influencer had added about 10,000 people to his network.

After accomplishing his goal to bulk up his connections, Larry stressed 6 reasons to build your LinkedIn network:

  1. Exposure in ‘Most-Viewed Connections’ gets you in front of influencers.
  1. More LinkedIn profile views is great for branding.
  1. More people will want to tell you how awesome you are.
  1. More people want to know you and share your content.
  1. You’ll get way more website traffic.
  1. More eyes on your best content.

I don’t know about you, but I’ll soon be using some quality time to advance my LinkedIn network. Larry Kim is clearly doing something right.
